Hannah: "My mommy and daddy school is over. I went to mean mommy school because my baby was being bad."
Me: "Oh really?"
Hannah: "Yep, he bit my finger while I was feeding him so I had to go learn how to be mean."
Important Note: Whenever Hannah tells me I'm mean, I tell her what my mom always said, "Yes I am. I went to mean mommy school and graduated top of my class!"

Hannah is playing school and house with Eli. She walks up to me and says, "Mommy, my teacher's name is Mrs. Stone."
Me: "Oh, Mrs. Stow?"
Hannah: "No, Mrs. STONE."
Me: "Mrs. Stove?"
Hannah: "No! Mrs. Stone, you know, like ROCK!!"

I had to take all three animals to the vet this evening, and Hannah came along to "help" me. The vet assistance just happened to be an old friend from high school and we were chit chatting catching up on old times. Hannah chimes in and says, "EXCUSE ME! Petinary!!" She is so cute sometimes!

Field Trip to the Farm
Wednesday I had the wonderful pleasure of accompanying Hannah's Preschool class on their field trip to Red Bluff Farms. The kids had a blast, and were all so well behaved. Mrs. Holden and Mrs. Susan run their class very efficiently. The children know exactly what is expected of them and therefore exactly what they need to do. I was very impressed.
The farm was interesting and well organized. The farmer did an impressive job of keeping the kids' attention and of helping them sit still and remain quiet whenever necessary. The kids met milking cows, calves, sheep, chickens, goats, beef cows, hogs, and horses. They even enjoyed a hay ride to lunch. The weather was wonderful, Hannah was wonderful, and I am so grateful that I was able to attend with her.

Pearl River Park
Tuesday we headed for a play date with the Slidell Superkids at the Pearl River Park. Eli had a great time...although, I am beginning to wonder why we go to such lengths getting together when the kids don't even play with each other!! They were all doing their own thing! But it is so nice to be around adults with adult conversations. So, I guess ultimately play dates are more for the mommies!

I won't love you anymore....
Yesterday evening Hannah was skimming through a book that contained a few pictures of band aids. She called it her doctor book. And of course she needed a band aid in order to follow the directions in the book. Well, I took this opportunity to take a stand. "No Hannah, you may not have a band aid because band aids cost money and are very expensive. If you want to play with band aids, use stickers and pretend they are band aids." Needless to say she was very upset with me. She asked me at least 4 more times for a band aid to which I replied in a similar fashion, but added to the end of my last statement that my patience was running thin and I was very close to losing it. At that point she decided to take another approach, (picture hands on hips and a very stern expression on her face) "If you don't give me a band aid I won't love you anymore." My response, a shrug and an "Ok." To this she flung herself on the ground, began to cry in desperation and said, "but I want to love you!!!" After taking several deep breaths I decided to try a different approach, "Ok, band aids are very expensive and we are not going to waste Daddy's money on them unless they are necessary. That means you need to be bleeding in order to require a band aid. BUT! If you feel you must have band aids then tomorrow after school I will drive you to the store, you can bring your piggy bank, and buy all the damn band aids you want!" And yes, I used the word damn. To this she asked, "Band aids cost .50 cents?" Me, trying to calm down, "No Hannah. Band aids cost $4 or $5 per box. They are very expensive." Hannah, tears starting to brim again, "But I don't have $4 or $5 dollars!" I calmly explained that she did indeed have $4 or $5 dollars in her piggy bank. And that she could buy all the band aids she wants. She was not happy at all with the outcome, but she settled for a truce.
Update - we didn't make it the store this afternoon because of an errand that popped up for my sister in law. She hasn't inquired about our trip, but I plan to make it happen for sure tomorrow. She needs to learn how expensive it is to waste things!

Sleeping Socks
I have been attempting to get Hannah to do more things on her own. Currently, about the only thing she does without assistance is use the bathroom. Her unwillingness to even try to put on her own shoes, or dress herself, or even brush her own teeth is starting to get old. So my first battle of choice is picking out and putting on pajamas. I am no longer helping her get out of the tub, dry off, or get dressed. She was upset with me at first, but now she has realized that this means she can wear whatever she wants to bed. Introducing..........sleeping socks. More popularly known as tights. I can't wait to see what she wears when I start making her dress herself in the morning. At least she has to wear uniforms to school!

Halloween Weekend
I am so far behind on our blog that I don't believe I could ever catch up!!....so I'm not going to try. We're starting fresh with Halloween weekend. We had our meetup group's Halloween Party at our house on Friday evening. It was a lot of fun despite the terrible weather. We had at least 20 kids in our house and probably 10 or so parents. The party was a great success and everyone had a blast. Thanks to the help of all of our guests and my wonderful parents the house was cleaned and straightened up by 8pm!! I was very happy about that!!
The big excitement of Halloween was that Ben arrived home from a three week trip to Korea just in time for trick or treating. Literally. We were waiting out front with the kids in their costumes ready to go when he pulled up from the airport. Hannah was so excited to see him and Eli couldn't care less. He was just happy he was holding a candy bar!
Trick or treating was short, but fun. The kids received lots of great loot, especially from our two wonderful neighbors across the street who gave the kids special treats. Hannah's favorite activity though was giving out candy after we arrived home. She pulled her time out chair in front of the door and waited on her "customers." She was giving out huge handfuls of candy, and at one point yelled out the door to trick or treaters walking away, "Make sure your parents check it!!" It was the cutest thing ever!! I love my Hannah!
